It had only new Pokémon for the main part of the game because Game Freak valued Gen 5 mons enough to let them shine in their own game, but every single old Pokémon was still transferable in the post game because Game Freak valued them enough to let them exist. However, some fans threw a tantrum for no reason and now we have to deal with a far worse version in SwSh (old Pokémon lost because several of them got Dexcut, and new Pokémon lost because they were shoved in the background to make room for Kanto’s shillmons )
