>>51873679I never wound up picking it up, and I didn't even claim to hate it like 90% of vp did at the time. It's weird because I've only skipped gen 5 and 8, and honestly with all the backlash I expected 8 to sell way worse. I actually enjoy a shitload of the mons and characters, but I was extremely let down by how empty the world was, and put off by the low effort aesthetics present in many locations from screenshots.
Funny enough, I have a co-worker who offered to let me borrow their copy of whichever version they have if they find it in time before SV. They can't remember if they have the game digitally or physically and are going through a rigorous coding regimen. So no guarantees I'll get to play it, but it would be a pretty neat way to build up my hype for SV even more by completing the main quest of SwSh for free, after all this time.
Looking back though, I probably should've bought it. If nothing else, for the battling. Dynamax seems infinitely more interesting than Z-moves.
