Sure, your mon would be fun for a year or two, but it would eventually just become another thing you have to put up with. You'd put it in its little ball (just a regular one), take it out less and less, and eventually you would just leave it in there forever. Maybe you'd try to be a good trainer and release it to be in the wild, but it doesn't know how to survive out there since you've kept it for so long and keeps trying to come back, so you have to throw rocks at it and stuff, so it eventually just slinks off into the tall grass and starves to death.
I would probably keep it if it was a shiny though.
