The exact angles across the jacket and shoes get me, but he's a sprite and real clothing does that too (space shoes aside). The color evolution to Red, being the first sequel character, is definitely there, white to a lot of black, blue to yellow, the poke ball to the ultra ball. Interesting backsprite, Gen 2 being the only one to try the behind the shoulder angle.
