OP here, beat the post-game today. I want to start a separate playthrough with my own custom autistic teambuilding method and no speedup this time. I missed some trainer encounter dialogue and my autism is making me want to go read it again. When I get around to it I'll post my team and stuff. Still unsure if I should do a separate save file or do NG+.

Nice, I'll check it out. I was always bothered by some of the final starter evolutions having wonky animations when waking up each day, and I can only imagine it's more immersion-breaking when you're not playing as an actual starter. I also always had a sweet spot for Munchlax because I'm in love with the RNG fuckery that Metronome provides, and on one save, I was Shinx with only a +3 Thunder Fang vs Dialga, and my bro Munchlax came in with the clutch Endeavor with like 700 damage. Now I've conditioned myself to always feel scummy if I don't pick Munchlax.

BW1 felt cancerous to slog through a second time being limited to only Unova Pokemon, gave me type diversity vibes from the likes of DP, but definitely not as bad.

Alola had a fun shiny hunting mechanic with SOS encounters. In those games, my first SOS Shiny (which I wasn't hunting for) was an Eevee, and my first SOS shiny that I did hunt for was Sandygast. Fun memories.
