>>51204508You can't. If you actually played up the lore/story told abilities of Pokemon everything would be incompetent and take away all sense of tension. Just as an example: TR's Meowth is a talking Pokemon that never uses his ability to talk for his advantage in any logical or meaningful way despite it being years since he's been on screen. Thus he and by extension Team Rocket and by extension-extension anyone who sees Meowth talking seems woefully incompetent.
Sooo if we ever got a Gardevoir on Ash's team just imagine them to have virtually no character if not a tiny bit personality related to a singular bare bones trait and none of their grandiose psychic abilities being used in any manner outside of battle and only really with moves like Psychic or Psyshock or Moonblast.
