I think Pokemon fans are pretty split about Gen 5. Some love the things they did, some hate it. I am a gigantic Gen 5 fan but I understand where a lot of the hate comes from, it certainly is the most hand-holdey of any Pokemon game.
I believe it makes up with it with compelling characters and story, and just as many amazing mons as there are forgettable and shitmons. I am one of those people who loves a good story in video games so I was completely immersed in what was going on.
BW2 was also amazing and the only thing wrong with it was a clumsily put together story, but it wasn't horrible. I believe that if BW1 and 2 were put together it'd be a perfect Pokemon game.
