>>21330141>>21330174>>21330244>>21330265I see. I haven't actually been really into Pokemon since Gen II, so I'm largely out of the loop on such things. Particularly how tournament rules work, though I am aware of Smogon and their general machinations. (Best friend was so butthurt about Speed Boost Blaziken getting banned.)
I remember Pokemon as the absolute essence of ADVENTURE!, so I align more with building a party designed to evoke a feel than to squeeze every last point of its stats.
I'm also prone to go on about how pre-Gen III felt like a Roaring 20s charmingly innocent era with mobs as the big badguys, ragtime piano tracks, city-anchoring casinos, radio being the primary electronic entertainment, cruise liners being a matter of national pride, and men wearing tophats unironically, and now everything is badwrongsynthtrumpets, but that's me. That said, I'm also a veteran of breaking tabletop game systems in half over a chair, so I wholly respect the powergaming angle.
I made a post on /tg/ about picking a Legendary, making a case for Lugia, and it struck me that there's a set of twin Legendaries that bear more than a passing resemblance to him. It was just an idea that came to mind, and I wondered if it had occurred to anyone that Viol and Vanille could play up their two-halves-of-a-whole thing with pic related.
Also because I'm an Ace Combatfag and the idea of the three flying into combat in a 3-wing formation makes me tingle in all the right places.
