Jesus christ that'd be the worst. SM has been underwhelming in everything it's done outside of 1 episode out of 100 of them. Characters have been poorly handled, arcs have been poorly handled, the tone of the series STILL hasn't figured out what it wants to be.
If they brought back Serena they'd turn her into a caricature of her XY/Z self. They'd probably pull a Misty and Brock by having her in her original outfit with her original long hair, give her shitty memefaces while doing nothing at all for her entire appearance just like Dawn in the BW return episode.
Bring in Cilan or Clemont or Bonnie if you need to have another character reappear. Any of those would at least be able to fit into SM without having their characters completely killed.
