To add insult to injury, the snarky bitch role never fit Iris's origin at all. There's a huge disconnect between her being unable to get through school because of her wildness, and chiding people for having fun.
This kind of lazy writing didn't matter in the 90s when Pokemon was a not too serious slapstick comedy show, but now it's just jarring, especially after Sinnoh.
