I loved the cave camping set up when I first saw fanart of it. I still have them, they're comfy. Even as a kid, finding him being up on the highest mountain as the real final challenge was pure kino and gave me a love for the Sisyphean struggle of life. I headcanon that Red resumed interacting with society to some extent after Gold dethrones him. I can't blame Red for not wanting the Champion position, you're basically just a shit test for trainers day in and day out and his pokemon are way too good for that.

I remember bc I was in highschool and literally everyone was coming up with grimdark headcanons for everything, like that old pic of Frankie Foster imagining everything in the show. Unnecessary, but at least the zoomies recognize how cringe the phase was. I personally always saw him as a more down-to-earth Ash as well. But FireRed seems like an entirely different character desu.
