The cherrypicked girafarig example is blatant too: the model has a darker brown that leans red hue while the sprite has a lighter brown that leans orange-yellow hue. Surprisingly the model has the same, almost identical colors (hue, saturation and value) to the digital Sugimori art.
If you knew what you were talking about you could be saying their colors are off model instead, maybe it could be inspo for your next bait tour-de-force?^-^
