Let's put it in perspective: Most anons will agree that edgy is a synonim for "things that are enjoyed by 10-13 children".
Now, the problem with this premise is that these "edgy Pokemon" are usually the most popular, liked ones by Pokemon's main audience: kids. They're not actually "edgy" because they're not provocative or daring, they're actually quite common. They're cookie cutter members in most players team.
THAT'S why it's funny. You people think playing with Dunsparce instead of Charizard is not being edgy, when that's actually the opposite. You're purposely using less popular Pokemon to stand out more in the ocean of Blaziken, Mewtwos and Lucarios.
