>>57158021The eggs that go into your party will ALWAYS hatch into a Pokemon that is mature enough to be battle-ready and ultimately fend for itself.
Eggs in the wild, meanwhile, as many depictions and descriptions of lore show, will hatch into a Pokemon that is undeveloped and incapable of fending for itself, still requiring its parents to protect it until maturity comes.
>b-but separation of gameplay and worldbuilding-I'm sure our trainer takes an extended hiatus that goes completely unmentioned to go valiantly raise the newborn until they've reached the ripe and tender stage of maturity that they can immediately be enlisted into the party to be thrown at whatever monsters we so choose, and that they do this for every single egg they hatch. And then every single time this hiatus to raise the child ends, they come right back to the very spot they were originally at before the egg hatched, including during pivotal story moments such as apocalyptic scenarios (the Darkest Day, Groudon/Kyogre's rampage, etc.) or while exploring dangerous areas (evil team bases, Area Zero, etc.)
