I'll miss sprites, I know it's lesser than 3D models but it was always nice seeing how they changed each gen. I have a feeling they'll stick with the same models and animations for a while, and in SM they already felt boring to me as I've seen em all in XY. Maybe it's that they're lacking personality out of the petting game, I dunno.
