If you just want to see the interactions of your favorite characters, then you can just watch their Sync stories on YouTube and the events they show up on.

I only started playing this game at the start of new years and I actually got Cynthia 3 times (which was the recommended number to me by these threads) just from the free gems they give you from the holiday events (And the ones you get from doing the story mode)
Plus, I actually find it more fun to do the challenge events using characters outside of the featured banners. It was really hard to get upgrade materials at the start, but I'm starting to accumulate them now.
