Cinderace feels really under developed and unfinished. It doesn't look traditionally "strong." At least with Gen 7 starters I can at least say they looked complete. From a design perspective I think humanoid designs tend to excel with they're not too "round" and "smooth" for a lack of a better term. For example, Blaziken. It's the first actual humanoid starter design. But I think the reason why us works for most is because it's a lot more angular. It has a rugged muscle structure and a jagged feather pattern. It's a bit more natural in a way. It's also more of a "monster" since it's easier to associate angular and rugged with being a monster. Compare that to the rabbit and lizard both are made up of a lot of smooth and round features. Shapes that we typically associate with humans.
