And yes, I believe Platinum was a step down from D/P. I could write a fucking doctorate thesis on this but you fuckers wouldn't read it, so here are some bullet points:
>story is dumbed down
>Gym leaders no longer have pokemon not of their type
>dialogue is much worse
>Barry sucks a lot more
>turns Sinnoh much, much more linear
>Cyrus, while more fleshed out, becomes unbearable
All in all, I believe that Gen IV is going to become much more popular in Gen VI, mostly because Gen V will become the new bandwagon punching bag. It's already begun; you can see it here already. The newgenner fog is lifting over Gen V, and revealing what a linear shit heap of a gen it really was.
