Maybe, but a pokemon shouldn't be in game trade only in the first place.

You can still inject a houndour, it just won't have any ability at all.

Dark type moves still exist, but not a single thing gets STAB off of it, and keep in mind Gen 3 Bite is a special attack so that Gyarados you just got still isn't very good.
