>>36687909>my favorite pokemon of all time is from gen 7, and I still think they should have stopped making new pokemon after gen 1 or 2 and just fleshed out the ones they had with things like regional variants. There's too many pokemon for GF to pretend to care about now, we'll never see good pokemon like tropius, slowking, and krookodile get the spotlight again because they have to focus on NEWNEWNEW. Giving older pokemon like mantine a chance to shine was something USM did right.I agree with this, I wish being anti-generation was more popular.
After a certain point I'd much prefer more alternate forms like Alola and for them to go back into previous gens and flesh out their evolutionary tree with evolutions, branching evolutions, pre evolutions, etc. They should have added less new Pokemon while keeping the artstyle consistent, too. Right around gen 5 is when we reached peak bloat and any addition after that point just feels like more bloat. Sure I like Aegislash, Pangoro and a bunch of other post gen 5 Pokemon but I'd much rather not have them stapled to the shit haul of nuPokemon they came with. If Gamefreak can only think of 10 good unique Pokemon to add for a game I wish they'd do that over adding 10-20 bad ones along with the 10 good ones.
I also definitely miss when the amount of Pokemon was manageable and by extension there was enough attention to go around for all of them, the only Pokemon on this cereal box that would still get a spotlight today is Pikachu.
