It is confirmed that there is prototype/unused gen 3 Pokemon that were scrapped really late in development, a lot of Hoenn Pokemon also looked different than their final design (Rayquaza was white). You can find some rare pre-release screenshot of RS with some minor differences, lots of gen 3 mon had a different sprite.
The RS beta is probably as interesting as Spaceworld Gold.
