I'm not some 'reeee I hate gen 5 trash bag ice cream ugly clown gears etc.' guy, but you can't ignore the amount of power creep gen 5 introduced in the new mons. For example, Mienshao is better than the vast majority of fighting types that came before it, aside from maybe Infernape and Lucario.
Hydreigon dropping Dracos, Le Genies of Healthy Meta, Amoongus, Conkeldurr, Keldeo and the rest of the Swords of Justice, Excadrill, and Volcarona, among others, are Meta-defining threats. So what would the meta be like if they weren't there? Pic unrelated
