I am so glad pokemon doesn't have humanoid designs. When they start adding those the series will truly be dead.
Digimon is better than pokemon but it's unreliable in it's quality. Pokemon is always safe and mediocre to average. Digimon goes from amazing to complete garbage depending on what you pick up. If you pick up digimon world 4 you're going to hate every second of it. If you get hackers memory you're going to have a whale of a time. Then you have games like world 1 which take a while to crack but are great if you want their specific niche nothing else does. World 3, dusk/dawn etc. Are average RPGs with a great monster mechanic but they're too grindy and require too much backtracking or wandering generic mazes.
Digimon designs are massively superior to Pokemons but that's because there are so many of them and they can be literally anything. You're going to find something you like when there's furballs with rabbit ears up to mecha dogs using chainsaws and railguns. Digimon unfortunately doesn't make the most of them and some of the best ideas are underused. Armor evolution has huge potential and it died with 02. They are trying to flesh out incomplete lines at the moment so armor has potential to be expanded which would be nice.
