>>38662282I was thinking this too. Gen 4 was essentially the end of Tajiri's original vision from the G/S prototype. Gen 3 not having cross-gen evos actually makes sense, due to the lack of backwards comparability, and older Pokemon getting put into FRLG. which was already planned by then. So gen 4 was like the culmination of all of that. Pokemon from each prior generations got evos or prevos, and they tried to be ultimate by introducing a god Pokemon and shit.
There are features which haven't been seen since that generation (barring remakes), so it does feel like the end of an era.
