>>55165257The thing that makes Lillie so great is her growth and development as a character. This maturation kicks off immediately at the start of the game, where the player sees her running away from grunts inside Aether Paradise. The significance of this particular part can not be over emphasized. We have a young girl who has been abused by her mother, finally taking action in hopes of getting her life back. In addition to trying to escape and distance herself from Lusamine, Lillie has rescued Cosmog (Nebby), the newest pokemon in Lusamine's collection that was undergoing experimentation. In the eyes of Lusamine, these actions are considered betrayal of the highest order so imagine the bravery Lillie had to muster up to carry it out. But enough was enough in her mind so she valiantly rescued the pokemon and escaped the facility. Now we have a frightened child taking refuge on an island, far from home and far from her family. Including her brother Gladion whom she cares for deeply. With no idea what to do next she leans heavily on those around her for guidance and help, mainly the Player's character (Elio/Selene) and Prof. Kakui. As a method to discover what it means to be a strong trainer and individual, Lillie accompanies the player on their adventure to complete the Island Trials of Alola. During the escapade, we witness Lillie slowly break out of her shell. Initially she was reluctant to watch battles and even pick out her own clothes, but as we journey on we get to see her blossom into a young adult. Someone who isn't afraid to speak up against her own mother and stand up for the people she actually cares about. It is not an exaggeration to say Lillie is the most well written character in the series and the best one to boot. She is cute, caring, brave, and an all around fantastic person.
