>>21754937Okay, I think, not entirely sure but it makes the most sense, that these Pikachus (there are like 10 of them) are meant to be Gastly sprites but Jagold didn't bother making an overworld for Gastly in the beta so he just used Pikachu.
I kill them all, the Gym Leader thanks me, goes back to her Gym. If you go to the right, you'll find a tree that jumps away when you cut it. It probably would've been better to use the Sudowoodo overworld sprite, but it's a beta.
The Gym Leader, predictably, deals with Ghost-types, and also has a big level jump. Haunter/Shedinja/Sableye/Gengar, the highest at 34.
After beating her, I can use the Wailmer Pail on the tree, fight a level 30 Sudowoodo, go on my way. I'll stop here for the night, we're 5 badges in, almost done.
Honestly, the region isn't bad, it'd be a nice plot-lite game (yes, it's surprisingly light on plot compared to Jagold's other games) with some more polishing, bug fixes, etc., but the level curve is so damn BAD. The Lucky Egg turns out to make bad curve nothing since I'm at Lv. 40, but it's still bad design that ruins the fun since I -have- to use a Lucky Egg to not have to grind/abuse save states.
Maybe the region will get the attention it needs in Broken Timeline.
