This is why Bonsly and Lucario aren't gen 3: because Gale of Darkness and Mystery Dungeon are not mainline games. I'm being totally consistent. What you don't seem to understand is that Let's Go is a mainline game. It is a generation 7 mainline game. Since Meltan is in Let's Go, it is a generation 7 pokemon.
Pic related is evidence, and so is that other picture from the nintendo website that shows spin offs separate from mainline games and has Let's Go in the mainline games section. I can't seem to find that picture right now but it's posted pretty often.
