Like, realistically speaking, even the most formidable Machamp there is would be very wary about wasting its energy on defeating an average Tyranitar, so it is better to send it far away from you than hopelessly fight it. Or, you could try to catch it, if you can.

All the Tyranitars I had in every playthrough were female, for some reason. I rarely encountered anything from the Larvitar line that was male, and if I did, it wasn’t of optimal nature.
yes, if there’s any Pokémon I absolutely must have in any game that doesn’t require trading, it’s Tyranitar (or one of it’s pre-evos).
