The only hint of romance came from Liko when she thought he was into her but since then nothing has changed. They are just close friends who like to get touchy sometimes. That's not to say their relationship will stay the same forever though. Romantic developments usually happen near the end anyway. Even in the Pokespe Manga the protagonists are strictly friends until the hints come 3 or 5 chapters before the end.
