>>56158697I think its a hit or a miss. The generation 4 games seem like something you're supposed to take slowly between HGSS and DPPt. If OG and GBA Kanto is going camping, then Sinnoh is going hiking. As much as I like bitching about HMs, and there are a lot in the mid-late game, I can't say that I didn't like the environments and how it was easier to think of it as a living and breathing land rather than an amusement park. I think the landscapes in Sinnoh are more memorable since they tell you "Hey, slow the fuck down, will you?". This is demonstrated beautifully on Mt. Coronet, the presentation is S+ Tier and felt like a monument to the shit you went through to get to where you are now. I think that's what I really like about Sinnoh, it takes extra time to immerse you in the elements of trekking across the land the most out of any pokemon game. It makes the game feel just that more real and feel like your adventure. But I also know that it isn't for everyone, and whats in style today are quick experiences that you go through in a day or two. Not to say that it's bad to have shorter and faster paced games, but I appreciate being able to play in bursts every now and then, because it feels like a treat as opposed to a task to do in one sitting
