Anyways, can kinda relate. Used to raid in FFXIV, one group I liked particularly well, but unfortunately I let it slip that my waifu was a loli from a different franchise. They gave me endless shit over it, a lot like what you described with the FBI jokes and what-not. They even accused me of making my character look like a child, just for being short. Even though I had the breast slider turned up to max. Eventually they just outright kicked me out, though I like to think it was unrelated to the loli thing. There's always those doubts, though.
It's a shame, I liked them and felt reasonably comfortable around them.
