Phil'erup is still fairly young, most of these homes aren't even a year old at most. What reason is there to build one, have it occupied it for what could be anywhere from a handful of weeks to a few months, and then leave it high and dry.
You're right in assuming that you aren't the first person to roam about here. Unsettling graffiti imagery covers the walls, every room looks like it's been ransacked for all its worth, and there's an odd odor persisting in the air.
Entering the study, the first thing you notice is the sea of forgotten books sprawled on the ground. There are a few paintings present (likely worthless if they're still there), but no windows. Most of the shelves are near-empty. There's a lamp on a desk in the far back, but its broken and bulbless.
A) Examine what was left on the desk.
B) Take a book and read it.
C) Examine the graffiti vandalism.
