The anime is a pretty good indicator of how seriously Game Freak takes min-maxing. Which is to say, not at all.
Seriously these guys didn't see Special Aegislash being a thing, or Mega Kangaskhan being an unholy terror. And unlike us, they actually made those things instead of having to speculate blindly until launch. I don't trust them to min/max two buckets of water.
