Gen V also made it that poison doesnt tick for damage outside of battle anymore.
Its these kind of things that make the caves (basically dungeons) trivial when they used to be deliberately designed to fuck with you and drain your recovery items like in other RPG series. they also added rival assaults at the end of them to actually fuck you over.
then in later games they made the caves and rival team dungeons much less complex.
now we're at sword and shield levels of nothing after a decade of this trend.
