groudon is a lead more than a safeswap or closer and dialga is overprepared for in the current ML meta
it's corebroken by ho-oh and landorus-therian and doesn't have safe matchups against a lot of the consistent meta threats at anything other than the neutral setting
they're just both very common picks but ultimately groudon is completely powercrept by landorus-therian as of next week

depending on your IV roll it's great for any kind of "versus trainer" content (rockets, leaders, GBL) because alongside counter it has 4 highly viable yet interchangable charged attacks to suit whatever needs you have at the time
