>>28822799>>28822887Yes and no. Develop a style, improve upon your art, but don't feel obligated to mimic Sugimori's style (or the newer style) unless you want to make convincing Fakemon.
Obviously this isn't an attempt to fool us, so as far as the design goes, I like it. I think it's a neat idea on paper, and you applied that idea as best as you could. I don't get the Steel typing or the blue toenails though.
If you're an aspiring artist, have you considered getting a tablet? Even a starting one without a screen is pretty nice. Here's a Fakemon I made attempting to mimic Pokemon's new art style, but I too am learning. Pretty new to digital art, but as far as making Fakemon goes, it leads to way more freedom and ease than paper doodles ever did haha.
