First of, I ended up going with the Hitmontop as you can see and got a couple Heart Scales to give it Rolling Kick and Revenge.
Well Mesanna couldn't get away with her slow-as-pond-water speed forever. I arrived in Kanto and wanted to fight Misty first (I forgot about the Power Plant stuff). While I was north of Nugget Bridge, I ran into a Hiker. Guy sends out Graveler. Too easy right? Lvl 49 Mesanna, use Surf pls. THE LEVEL 42 GRAVELER OUTSPEEDS IT. Explosion and death and gnashing of teeth follow. Rand went in against the other 2 gravelers. Used Dig on a hunch and sure enough the 2nd Graveler used explosion (obviously misses) and the 3rd graveler gets killed when Rand comes up. What a bastard of a trainer.
However, if I am being totally honest, I'm not heartbroken over it. The slow speed was frustrating the hell out of me. 45 base stat means every opponent always got 1 hit in at least. I'm talking Golbats that are almost 20 levels lower being faster. Unacceptable. Plus, I am convinced that focus energy was glitched cause I could count on 1 hand the amount of crits I got after using it with her. she may as well have not have had an ability.
However, I think her replacement could prove to be quite fun. Qwilfish has a very diverse moveset so I am spoiled for options. Gonna spend some time getting everyone to about lvl 50 and then go after the kanto gyms. Happy that Qwilfish is caught at lvl 40 to save me some time. Busy couple days ahead so I might not update till the weekend.
