To me, the definition of peak has more to do with quality. In that respect, that's why I consider HGSS/Plat/BW2 to be the best overall in terms of enjoyment, content, and so forth.
It's fine to like XY or SwSh. But I think that XY fans are primarily people who played them as a child, and might dismiss any gen beforehead (not just 5).
