>>43498471I liked Green. He was snobbish, entitled, but not incompetent. He was a good trainer, but he was a dick, so it felt good to beat him. With that said, I also liked Hau. It felt like kids romping around Alola having fun. And in the original S/M story, before USUM butchered everything I liked about it, you, as the player, slowly realize that you’re the douchy rival. You just move there and keep kicking Hau’s ass to the point that he considers joining Team Skull. You can see through character interactions that with every loss he gets more and more defeated. But buries the feelings.
So, I guess if we combine what I like... You want them to be dickish, but not to the point that they’re the straight antagonist, and you also want to see them develop as the game preogresses. Whether they become batter as a human being or worse, they should function as more than just a gate.
