Hell I'm pretty sure you even get Gible pretty early in Gen 4. There's absolutely no reason a Pseudo can't be available to the player relatively early in the game, especially since it usually takes forever for fully evolve them anyway. Most other gens are simply retarded about it.
Misdreavus isn't some powerful potential gamebreaker like Gengar is yet it's postgame only (I will thank HGSS for at least making it available by Gym 6 with the Safari, you don't even have to do any editing), meanwhile Gastly is literally available to you before you even get to Falkner.
Huntail and Gorebyss are in no way powerful (only Huntail is the arguably cool one) yet in Gen 3 you can only a chance to even nab them by Gem 7.
Maybe if most (keyword: MOST) of the Pokemon I ever wanted to use that appear mid or late game were even potentially gamebreaking, I wouldn't be complaining like this. But when my reward for leaving a slot or two open for several hours of gameplay is a Relicanth, then that's just a kick in the pants not worth taking.
