i am a little hesitant about passing up the grass/fighting starter, because apparently...there's less than 10 fighting type lines in this entire game.
on the flip side, by the time i'll need them (the elite four, which have normal/rock members) i'm sure i'll have better ones
>>55340310sorry you didn't like it as much friend, but those sidequest gauntlets or whatever are optional and there's not really any in the main story past that point (that i can remember anyway)
also, you can turn off trainer healing in the options menu
