Third versions are derived from the code of the already existing versions and take significantly less effort, but still yield significant profit, especially since they don't have to put nearly as much money into making them.
Third versions are basically free money. Not making them doesn't mean they earn less money. Gen 5 showed they only do remakes if they think it's time to put it out. Where they fuck are you getting twice the money from.
