The game is obviously in very early stages. The demo we've seen only had one stage to showcase, who knows what else could happen during development?
Gameplay has been known from time to time to improve dramatically from an early build to the final product. I predict this is simply an extremely bare bones playable demo that is not indicative of the final product's quality, likely thrown together to remind the fickle masses that yes, the game stille exists.
