Give him a golden crown-like crest on his head and a pile of gold/treasure on his back, with an ornate sword sticking into his shell. He could pull the sword out and use it in some of his attack animations.
Water/Steel. High defenses and attack. Maybe even give him an ability which scatters coins whenever he gets hit, that would be nice.
