With no investment and an eviolite, his defense is over 300. After a bulk up, most physical attackers will need to hit him with strong SE moves to bring him down. On the other side, with 252+ spdef, his spdef is roughly equal to a maxxed out base 100, or an uninvested 140ish. And with base 105 attack, his atk is nearing 400 after one bulk up, with drain punch for healing.
Plus he has ice punch, stone edge, knock off, poison jab, and any other coverage move he needs, not to mention STAB priority. Throw in guts so that you can't status him into submission, and he's a little rape machine. If not for the knock off buff, I'd say he was even superior to Conk.
