Deciding the series became something you no longer enjoyed on experience rather than principle is what separates Genwunners from whatever you call everyone else, isn't it?
I burnt out (gracefully) in Gen 4 thinking the series had little left to work for bar infinite TMs and easier EV management, breaking my DS and the kerfuffle about Black/White's implementing story certainly not helping. Lucked my way into a 3DS and grabbed OR suspecting it would be the last gasp of Pokemon as I knew it, and that is looking more and more to be the case. But even in the best case linear addition had just made Pokemon unattractively bloated at this point.
>>36149076Weren't Kanto, Johto, and Sinnoh the only games that let you (meaningfully) sequence break Gym Leaders? Sinnoh was the last gasp in that regard by Game Freak's own admission and playing Pearl again I can see why- even if I myself think misdirection and extra navigation is great if you have a team that can organically spread out the HMs.
