If Ankha was in a game with other similar chibi cat girl designs I doubt people would call her a furry. In that one famous animation if you cover her ears she's essentially a yellow chibi human. That's the point, you are underselling greatly how much being a Pokémon means. Just like the monster girl example you brought up, centaurs have literal horse genitals but because they been part of essential things like MGQ and MGE since the start they get associated with that. No one associates Gardevoir with blue aliens like you mention, they associate it with Pokémon like Vaporeon, Lopunny, Braixen, etc and even the anime has acknowledged that. The way people see things matter a hell of a lot more than you let on, being a Pokémon makes a world of difference.
