If it was a graph I would say that it was only up till DP where it took a hit but it became higher than ever again with platinum(combat speed and some small changes to the gym leaders and available pokemon really made a diference, also the battle tower really adds to the replayability, I always come back to the emerald and platinum battle towers from time to time), then came HGSS, what a beutiful wonderful game, probably the peak of the franchise it had it all it’s the best of the best, content galore and charm and visuals at an all time high, BW took a hit and BW2 stayed kinda the same (but I have to say the games were pretty good it was only a slight hit from platinum, higher than base DP but not as high as platinum), XY also took a hit, it just wasn’t that original and it was kinda easy and forgettable in the music and character department but it still was a decent game (the megas were cool), SM and USUM were a bit more memorable and the totem pokemon were cool and all but the gym leaders were pretty meh,I think it’s above XY since it has way more charm but it’s just a bit too slogish with story stuff.
