>>38681191Gen 6 made EV training a lot easier and also very fun in my opinion. Sadly don't know if we'll get the minigames back, they were my favorite part of the thing, but I'll miss them and enjoy them as I can.
In S/M I do like that they added Bottle Caps, so if you have a pokemon you really like and want to use in battle but can't because IVs exist, you get rewarded for getting them to level 100 by allowing you to set all their stats to be equivalent to as if they did have 31 ivs, which is nice. I've got a team from Leaf Green I'm able to now use in comp because the Bottle Caps allow them to stand equal with others.
The cutscenes aren't that bad, but I unironically liked the story so I guess disregard my opinion on that. If you don't like the story it's a slog I'll admit, because I felt the same way plaything through ORAS and Emerald because in both those games the story is a snoozefest.
The pokemon are the best part of the region with a lot of really awesome designs, both unique and tropical enough to make me believe this is indeed a hawaii region, but it's called "Aslowla" for a reason.
All in all 7.8/10, too much plot but it's solid and I'd recommend it at least for the new pokemon. Araquanid is boss.
oh yeah, and the UBs are just kinda...there. I love them all a lot, Buzzwole, Guzzy and Stakataka especially, but unless you're playing the original S/M they serve almost no purpose other than to exist and even then it's really just Nihilego that drives the plot. Nihilego is top notch though. Good fan of Lovecraft so I'm a fan of it.
