It's easy to see MH hunts as gory & violent, but outside of that, its tone is actually pretty light-hearted. I mean just look at the felynes. And there's a fair share of goofier monsters alongside all the more serious ones. There's even the Stories spin-off games that puts the world of MH in a much more "kid-friendly" light compared to the main series. I think there could be a nice middle-ground in a Pokemon and Monster Hunter crossover if handled properly and not just "what if we KILLED Pokemon instead?!" If you plopped something like Kulu-Ya-Ku instead of Fatalis in Pokemon, it'd probably fit right in.
